Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Mississauga is seeking a Field Service Power Generation technician to support customers with on-site service for gensets across the GTA. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain power generation equipment, complete documentation, and uphold safety and quality standards.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm, with periodic on-call shifts. A valid driver’s license and relevant certifications are required or assets, and company benefits apply from day one.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of field service experience.
  • Power generation equipment knowledge and diesel engine experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean abstract.
  • Red seal 309A and TSSA certifications are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and develop productive customer relations with prompt attention to needs.
  • Diagnose and complete complex repairs at customer sites using specialized tools and documented procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on gensets in the field.
  • Complete service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality documents.
  • Maintain service vehicle and tools and adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Complete required training and participate in on-call rotation.

Job description

We are looking for a Field Service Power Generation technician to join our team for our distribution business in Mississauga.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Establish and continually develops productive customer relations and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.

  • Apply the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete complex repairs at customer site.

  • Perform preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on power generation products in the field.

  • Complete required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.

  • Complete training in line with skill and business requirements.

  • Maintain service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor.

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:
Certifications-licenses:
  • Locally valid driving permit and clean driver’s abstract is required for this role

  • Red seal 309A certification is an asset for this role.

  • TSSA certification is an asset for this role.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Field service work experience.

  • Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with of power generation products

  • Basic mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.

  • Load Banking Experience

  • Troubleshooting: Scanning Tool / InPower Experience

  • New Unit Installs & Commissioning experience

  • Customer service experience

  • Basic diesel engine experience

  • High Horsepower generator experience is an asset

About the role:
  • Position is a daytime position-Monday thru Friday 7am to 330pm

  • Rotational On-Call Shift is required (approximately every 6 weeks)

  • Working on gensets for our clients in the GTA (hospitals, data centers etc.)

  • Unionized environment-Salary as per current CBA from 38.15$ to 51.92$ depending on experience.

  • This position is a backfill.
