Job description
Responsibilities

Reporting to the maintenance lead hand, the Power Engineer 4th Class performs highly skilled maintenance work related to specialized equipment repair and plant operation. Operate the power plant, HVAC, water treatment, air handling and building control systems efficiently and safely. Adhere to code requirements and demonstrate that safety is always first. Participate in fire drills, WHIMIS, WH&S and quality assurance programs. Be available on‑call, including weekends and after‑hour response. Liaise between maintenance departments and hospital customers to ensure emerging issues are addressed.

Required Qualifications
  • Completion of 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate.
  • Certification as a 4th Class ABSA Power Engineer.
  • Valid class 5 vehicle operator’s license.
  • Computer skills: CMMS, Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Ability to prioritize and re‑prioritize work under stressful conditions.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC, boilers, chillers, water treatment, refrigeration equipment and plumbing installation/repair.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Trade certification in plumbing, electrical or instrumentation (asset).
  • Ability to participate in snow removal as needed.
  • Two years’ experience in power plant operation and building automation systems.
  • One year experience in a maintenance role within a health care facility.
  • Water treatment level 1 certificate.
  • Wastewater level 1 certificate.
