Job summary

A prominent fish processing company based in Newfoundland and Labrador is seeking a full-time Power Engineer to manage refrigeration, steam, and ice systems. The ideal candidate will hold a 3rd or 4th class Power Engineering Certificate and have experience with Freon and ammonia systems. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining systems, troubleshooting issues, and supporting maintenance tasks. This position offers an hourly rate of $30.00 to $75.55, based on qualifications. Qualifications

  • Minimum 3rd or 4th class Power Engineering Certificate, or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable in Freon, ammonia and boiler systems.
  • Competent with technical equipment and able to complete tasks independently.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and maintain the company’s refrigeration, steam, and ice systems.

  • Complete readings, recordings, daily logs, and necessary forms.
  • Assist the maintenance team with plant electrical and general maintenance.

Power Engineer

Quin‑Sea Fisheries is a leading fish processing company based in Newfoundland and Labrador, providing quality North Atlantic seafood to markets around the globe for over 35 years. The company is part of Royal Greenland, one of the world’s leading seafood groups.

Job Details

3rd or 4th class engineers are needed at our processing facilities located in Cape Broyle, Newfoundland. Positions are full‑time, permanent, on‑site, with rotating shifts on a predetermined schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate and maintain the company’s refrigeration, steam, and ice systems in accordance with the Boiler & Pressure Vessel Act and Regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair in a safe, orderly, and timely manner.
  • Operate and maintain Freon, ammonia, steam systems.
  • Complete readings, recordings, daily logs, and necessary forms to operate the boiler‑room.
  • Assist the maintenance team with plant electrical and general maintenance when required.
  • Familiarise with Department of Labour and boiler inspection branch regulations.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3rd or 4th class Power Engineering Certificate, or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable in Freon, ammonia and boiler systems.
  • Competent with technical equipment and able to complete tasks independently.
  • English language proficiency.
  • 3rd Class Steam time is available.
Salary & Benefits
  • Hourly rate: $30.00 to $75.55, negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
