Position Summary

We are seeking an independent, highly motivated recent PhD graduate with a strong background in neuroscience, specifically human in vivo electrophysiology, neuromodulation, intracranial electrophysiology, or brain–computer interfaces (BCI) to join our research team. You will design and execute rigorous experiments, analyze and interpret neural data, and help translate findings into high-quality figures, manuscripts, and presentations. Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary work (clinical, engineering, computational) and contributing to collaborative documents (protocols, ethics submissions, and occasional proposal sections) is valued.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking team at the forefront of neuroscience, working with advanced tools and methodologies to unravel the mysteries of brain. We encourage you to apply if you are passionate about cutting-edge neuroscience research and eager to contribute to impactful projects. Join us in advancing neuroscience research, making a difference in understanding and treating neurological conditions and improving brain health.

Duties
  • Proactively contribute to grant development—from conceptualizing aims to drafting sections (rationale, methods), producing figures, and generating preliminary data.
  • Design and execute experiments in in-vivo electrophysiology and/or neuromodulation.
  • For intracranial / BCI projects: plan tasks, oversee acquisition and preprocessing, perform spike/LFP analysis and basic decoding; integrate hardware/software as needed.
  • Analyze data in Python / MATLAB with robust QC, statistics, and reproducible visualization; build reusable analysis pipelines.
  • Collaborate with clinical and lab teams to schedule sessions, align timelines, and uphold patient-safety and workflow requirements.
  • Prepare manuscripts, posters, and abstracts.
Qualifications
  • PhD recently obtained in neuroscience or a related field.
  • Strong scholarly track record (first-author publications) and experience with grant submissions, especially in Canada.
  • Clear academic trajectory toward a future faculty role, evidenced by initiative in grant proposals and manuscripts, ownership of sub-projects, and collaborative leadership within a lab.
  • Hands-on expertise in at least one: in-vivo electrophysiology, neuromodulation (e.g., DBS), human intracranial electrophysiology (sEEG), or BCI.
  • Experience acquiring / analyzing neural signals (spikes, LFP, ECoG), including intraoperative or EMU recordings; familiarity with intracranial electrode technology.
  • Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for signal processing, statistics, and visualization; reproducible workflows (version control, notebooks).
  • Familiarity with recording hardware / software (e.g., Ripple, TDT, Intan, Neuropixels, Neurolynx) and basic hardware / software integration.
  • Experience with stereotaxic surgery and electrode implantation and/or head-fixed awake rodent models; optogenetic / photostimulation experience is an asset.
  • Data stewardship: organizing code, data, and metadata to shared standards (e.g., NWB) and use of data-management tools (e.g., REDCap).
  • Experience preparing protocols and REB / Health Canada submissions and amendments (or equivalent regulatory processes).
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication.
