Job summary

Canada Post in Sioux Lookout, Ontario is seeking two Postal Clerks – Retail and Operations for a temporary on-call position. This role offers experience across both mail operations and retail customer service environments, with shifts covering days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.

You will perform sales and customer service activities, operate a POS system, manage displays, and maintain knowledge of postal products.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service in a retail environment is required.
• Sales experience is an asset.
• Experience working in a production environment is an asset.
• English language proficiency (English Essential)
• Flexible availability across days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
• Physical ability to handle mail items up to 22.7 kg and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of sales and customer service activities to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
• Operate a computer point-of-sale system.
• Maintain floor displays and conduct merchandising and inventory control.
• Maintain a high level of knowledge of postal products, services, and delivery information.
• Process financial transactions including cash, cheques, debit, and credit card payments.
• Receive, sort, sequence, and batch mail items.
• Operate mail processing equipment (clearing jams, removing mail from sorting machines, etc.) where applicable.
• Transport mail between floors and sections using rolling or motorized equipment where applicable.
• Operate a computer to key in data when applicable.
• Review mail items for address accuracy and proper postage.
• Stand in one place for up to 3.5 hours at a time.
• Handle mail items weighing up to 22.7 kilograms (50 lbs) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kilograms (35 lbs); bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying as required.
