Job summary

Aurevia Cleaning Company in Toronto is seeking a Post-Construction Cleaner to complete rough, final, and touch-up cleaning in newly built or renovated properties, preparing spaces for inspection, occupancy, or client handover.

The role involves 20 hours per week with project-based scheduling across Ottawa and the GTA, requiring attention to detail, safety, and the ability to follow site checklists and work with diverse teams.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • At least 1 year of post-construction cleaning experience or relevant training.
  • Experience with final cleans of newly built spaces is a strong asset.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred for travel to sites.

Responsibilities

  • Perform rough, final, and touch-up cleaning according to project scope and site checklists.
  • Remove construction dust from surfaces including walls, ceilings, trim, baseboards, doors, fixtures, and ledges.
  • Vacuum and clean floors with HEPA or approved equipment as required.
  • Clean kitchens, bathrooms, cabinets, mirrors, and window frames.
  • Follow site access, safety procedures, and report hazards promptly.
  • Maintain professionalism with supervisors, builders, trades, clients, and teammates.

Summary Of Duties

Position Summary: The Post-Construction Cleaner completes rough, final, and touch-up cleaning in newly built or renovated properties, preparing spaces for inspection, occupancy, or client handover.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete rough, final, and touch-up cleaning according to project scope and site checklists.
  • Remove construction dust from walls, ceilings, trim, baseboards, doors, vents, fixtures, ledges, and other surfaces.
  • Vacuum floors and surfaces using approved commercial or HEPA-filtered equipment when required.
  • Sweep and wet-mop hard floors using methods appropriate for the site and surface.
  • Clean kitchens, bathrooms, cabinets, closets, appliances, mirrors, interior glass, window frames, and tracks.
  • Remove labels, stickers, tape, paint spots, caulking residue, and adhesive without damaging finished materials.
  • Collect and dispose of packaging and non-hazardous waste in designated site containers.
  • Inspect completed areas, correct deficiencies, and prepare units for builder or client walkthroughs.
  • Follow site access, sign-in, security, emergency, and hazard-reporting procedures.
  • Use cleaning products, ladders, tools, and equipment only as trained and authorized.
  • Protect finished surfaces and report damage, unsafe conditions, unknown materials, or suspected hazardous dust immediately.
  • Work professionally with supervisors, builders, trades, clients, and other cleaning team members.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of post-construction, commercial, industrial, or heavy-duty cleaning experience, or relevant professional cleaning training.
  • Experience with final cleans, deficiency touch-ups, newly built homes, condominiums, or commercial projects is a strong asset.
  • Experience safely using commercial vacuums, HEPA equipment, floor-care tools, and extension poles is an asset.
Safety Training And Site Requirements
  • Ontario Worker Health and Safety Awareness training must be completed before assignment.
  • Current WHMIS training is required before handling or using hazardous cleaning products; site- and product-specific instruction will be provided as required.
  • Working at Heights training from an Ontario-approved provider is required only for assignments that involve the use of fall-protection equipment; otherwise, it is a strong asset.
  • Must follow all site-specific orientations, safe-work procedures, safety data sheets, warning signs, and supervisor instructions.
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment, which may include CSA-approved safety footwear, hard hat, high-visibility apparel, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, or respiratory protection, depending on the site and hazard assessment.
  • Where a tight-fitting respirator is required, the worker must complete the applicable medical review, fit testing, instruction, and facial-seal requirements before use.
  • Must not dry sweep, disturb, or clean suspected hazardous materials unless specifically trained, equipped, and authorized.
Required Skills And Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify construction-cleaning deficiencies.
  • Dependable, punctual, safety-conscious, and able to follow written checklists.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in active or recently completed construction environments.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb stairs, reach, and lift or carry up to 25 kg.
  • Ability to work around dust, noise, changing temperatures, and active trades while using required controls and PPE.
  • Strong spoken English skills for safety instructions and site communication.
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are strongly preferred due to changing project locations.
  • Availability for early mornings, daytime shifts, evenings, weekends, and short-notice assignments when required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and willing to complete a criminal background check when required by a client or site.
