Job summary

CIMA+ is seeking a Portfolio Manager, Earth and Environment in Calgary to oversee a diverse portfolio of strategic planning solutions for midstream energy clients and lead an interdisciplinary team across Canada.

You will collaborate with government, industry and clients, drive project delivery, apply regulatory understanding, and help grow the firm's presence through effective relationship management.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in project management within the energy or resource sector or equivalent, with a proven track record of managing large-scale projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, or a related field; Master’s degree or PMP would be asset.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of Canada’s energy sector, regulatory frameworks, and planning challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to a portfolio of complex projects and programs across Canada.
  • Maintain and improve program management platforms, systems, tools and processes.
  • Lead diverse inter-disciplinary teams of Urban Planners, GIS analysts, Data Scientists and Communications.
  • Collaborate with energy sector clients to ensure delivery excellence and risk management.
  • Engage with local government, industry and program stakeholders across Canada.
  • Support records management, quality control and assurance processes.
  • Foster team innovation and growth in the energy and resources practice.
  • Contribute to sector events, promotions, and business development initiatives.
  • Travel as required and maintain a Class 5 license.

B&A’s Energy & Resources team is designing strategic planning solutions fueled by collaboration, and innovation to meet the emergent and evolving needs of the energy sector. We are leaders in providing approval, assessment and monitoring projects to some of Canada’s largest midstream energy companies in Canada supporting due diligence, project entitlements, safe planning and development in proximity to energy infrastructure, regulatory compliance and foresight to support operational and capital planning decisions. As aPortfolio Manager, Earth and Environment, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of strategic planning solutions, projects, and programs developed for midstream energy companies and lead a skilled, diverse and growing interdisciplinary team to achieve new heights. You'll strategically and tactfully manage key initiatives, represent B&A with industry, and help further grow our presence through relationship management, successful and consistent project and program delivery. Reporting to a Partner Advisor, you will support the B&A way, focusing on teamwork, collaboration, problem solving, and innovation to meet and exceed all client needs and expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide superior project management expertise to lead and manage a portfolio of complex projects and programs across Canada.
  • Maintain and improve our program management platforms, systems, tools and processes through continuous assessment and team collaboration.
  • Lead and empower diverse inter-disciplinary teams of Urban Planners, GIS analysts, Data Scientists and Communications to support collaboration and achieve project delivery excellence.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with our energy sector clients ensuring attentiveness to needs and risk identification to support superior project / program delivery.
  • Engage with local government, industry and program stakeholders across Canada.
  • Support superior records management, quality control and assurance processes.
  • Foster team innovation and the advancement of our energy and resources area of expertise.
  • Support sector specific digital / print media production for broad and targeted marking initiatives
  • Support sector specific events and conferences, promotions and business development initiatives
  • Explore opportunities for providing and developing innovative solutions unique to the energy sector.
  • Be familiar with and interpret a variety of policy and regulatory documents in both the land use planning and energy sectors.

You're an experienced leader in the energy or resource sector, known for steering complex projects with a strategic and thoughtful approach. Your background reflects a strong blend of technical knowledge and practical experience, enabling you to navigate the intricate landscape of energy infrastructure with ease. You excel in collaborative environments, drawing on your excellent communication skills to unite teams and stakeholders toward common goals. Adaptable and forward-thinking, you're prepared to meet the challenges of this dynamic field head-on, driven by a commitment to innovation and sustainable development.

  • A minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in project management within the energy or resource sector or equivalent, with a proven track record of managing large-scale projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification in project management (e.g., PMP) would be considered an asset.
  • Deep understanding of the energy sector in Canada, including regulatory frameworks, damage and integrity management initiatives, operational challenges, and emerging trends.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and motivating a team of professionals.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker, with the ability to oversee multiple projects and make informed decisions that align with the company’s objectives and client needs.
  • Familiarity with GIS, database systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Willingness to travel as required and possession of a Class 5 license.
