Job summary

Inter Pipeline Ltd. is seeking an Operations Technician for PP/Utilities at the Heartland Petrochemical Complex, north of Fort Saskatchewan. You will train to progress from Field Operator to Console Operator through the HPC Operations Technician Progression Program.

Responsibilities include collaborating with leadership to meet targets, monitoring performance, and maintaining safety and operating discipline. ABSA certification is required; 3+ years in petrochemical operations is preferred.

Qualifications

• Power or Chemical Engineering Diploma preferred.
• ABSA 3rd class certification required; 2nd class certification would be an asset.
• 3+ years plant operations experience in Petrochemical/Refinery/Upgrader encouraged.
• Strong technical understanding of plant processes, equipment, and automation.
• Preference for candidates with prior control room operator experience.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Leadership and Operations to meet targets, goals, and plans.
• Monitor plant performance, maintain operating discipline, and take corrective action.
• Safely operate and maintain the plant using HPC manuals and procedures.
• Participate in HSSE initiatives and uphold safety commitments.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks per Operating Procedures.
• Communicate effectively at shift handover.
• Prepare plant equipment for maintenance, including decontamination and energy isolation.
• Member of Emergency Response Team is required.
