Police Records Clerk

Duration: Auxiliary

Pay Rate: $27.30 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2024 Rates)

Location: RCMP Detachment

Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work, which may include on‑call shifts. Shifts are scheduled on an as‑needed basis from Monday – Friday, between the hours of 7:30 AM – 4:15 PM.

We’re seeking motivated individuals with an eye for detail to join the Community Safety Department at the RCMP as a Police Records Clerk! In this role, you’ll dive into a variety of clerical tasks such as opening operational records and processing incoming and outgoing mail with precision. You will be responsible for keeping a record of certified mail sent including processing, assessing and following up on courier requests and organizing and distributing mail, entering member scheduling for Traffic Court and processing and keeping records of all Traffic Tickets at the Detachment. You’ll operate specialized systems like PRIME. If you have a sharp eye for detail, strong knowledge of policies and recordkeeping, and enjoy working where accuracy and confidentiality count, this is your chance to shine in a role that truly impacts your community! You will also perform related work as required.

Qualifications include the completion of Grade 12, including or supplemented by a commercial typing course plus some related experience preferably in a Police Department; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of clerical and recordkeeping methods and procedures and of business English, spelling and arithmetic. Some knowledge of computer applications such as PRIME as it applies to the work is also ideal. An incumbent will have the ability to prepare, maintain and retrieve a variety of records and files applicable to the work; search for requested information using several internal sources; ability to operate standard office equipment such as PRIME, MS Word and MS Excel to perform data entry and scan information to Police files and deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts. The incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance.
