Job summary

A metropolitan municipality in Toronto is looking for a Plumbing and Mechanical Plan Examiner. This full-time, permanent position involves examining plans for compliance with Ontario's Building Code, specifically relating to plumbing and HVAC systems. Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma/certificate in a discipline relevant to mechanical technology.
  • Considerable experience with Ontario Building Code and related regulations.
  • Experience in reading plans and specifications for HVAC and Plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, correct, sign, and approve plumbing and HVAC plans.
  • Prepare examiners' notices and documents.
  • Respond to inquiries from contractors and the public.
  • Calculate permit fees and approve permit applications.
  • Appear in Court and provide evidence on related regulations.

Skills

Knowledge in HVAC and plumbing systems
Good oral communication skills
Good written communication skills
Ability to read and interpret plans
Knowledge of Ontario Building Code

Education
