Job summary

Dexterra is seeking a Plumber/Gas-fitter Journeyman for onsite shift work in Edmonton. This full-time role requires passing a pre-employment drug test and complying with safety protocols.

You will install, repair, and replace plumbing and gas fittings after rough-in, and move larger fixtures as needed. Responsibilities include following codes, using hand and power tools, and coordinating with maintenance staff to keep sites running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Journeyman plumbing certification required.
• Gas fitter technician certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to read and follow plumbing codes.

Responsibilities

• Understand safety procedures and follow site rules.
• Install/repair water lines using hand tools.
• Crimp water lines and install fixtures after rough-in.
• Move fixtures with equipment such as forklifts or dolly.
• Maintain site equipment and ensure timely paperwork.
• Adhere to Gas Code and Plumbing Code and obtain permits.
• Coordinate with Area Superintendent and Maintenance Planner.

NOTE - Position is shift work at a remote, safety sensitive location. Successful applicants must pass a pre-employment drug test before they can be employed.

Responsibilities

• Understand all safety procedures of work place.
• Installing/repairingwater lines, using hand tools such as pex cutters, drills, and screwdrivers.
• Using crimping tools for water lines.
• Installation/repairing/replacingof fixtures and appliances once the rough in is completed, including showers, toilets, urinals, sinks, hot water tanks, kitchen equipment, washer/dryers, dishwashers, furnaces, and air conditioning units.
• Use forklift, floor jack or dolly to move larger fixtures and appliances into buildings.
• Daily usage of torches, crimpers, drills, hand tools (ie. Screw drivers, wrenches and hammers), pipe bender, manometer, threading machine, die heads, grinders, metal snips and shears.
• Use of glues for sealing and installation of appliances (ie. ABS, PVC glue, pipe dope, flux and paint).
• Work in accordance with the Gas Code and Plumbing Code.
• Pull gas permits as required.
• Load and unloadmaterials, and move materials to work areas.
• Maintain siteequipment to the highest possible condition.
• Liaise with the Area Superintendent and Maintenance Planner to keep up to all maintenance issues and complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
• Responsible for “curb appeal” of our facility including highway signage.
• Cleanliness and housekeeping of all areas inside and outside the facilities.
• Ensure all siteequipment is in good repair.
• Cleans and stores tools and equipment and cleans work sites.
• Effectively manage time and meet all necessary deadlines
• Interacting with other departments to ensure the proper functioning of all systems on site.
• Complying with all of companysafety policies & procedures
• Wears required Personal Protective Equipment at all times during work hours.
• Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Requirements

• Valid drivers License.
• Work requires an education background normally equivalent to high school and a Journeyman Certificate in Plumbing.
• Gas Fitter Technician certification.
• Work requires practical knowledge of the application of plumbing techniques and methods normally acquired through 5 years of plumbing experience.
• Knowledge of applicable industry and company codes, standards, regulations, and procedures.
• Able to operate all hand and power tools required to perform tasks specific to trade.
• Able to demonstrate organizational, time-management and decision-making skills.
• Able to manage a fluctuating workload and set priorities to meet deadlines.
• Able to work individually and as a team member.
• Able to safely and comfortably carry out physical duties.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to health/safety of self and co-workers.
