Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking a journeyman plumber to join a multi-site Duncan-area operation. You will install, alter and repair plumbing systems, test gas lines, and ensure backflow prevention compliance.

Requirements include a BC journeyman qualification or apprenticeship, BC Class B gas fitter license, and a Cross-Connection Control Specialist certificate; two years' related experience preferred. On-call with 30-minute response; CRC required; travel between sites.

Qualifications

• Must hold BC journeyman plumber and Class B gas fitter licenses.
• Valid CrossConnection Control Specialist certificate (AWWA BC) required.
• Two years of related experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled plumbing work across multiple VIHA sites; install, alter and repair plumbing systems.
• Install, test, maintain and repair natural gas lines, appliances and backflow prevention systems; read blueprints.

Job Description

In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Vancouver Island Health Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager or designate, performs skilled plumbing work for a multi-site operation, at the journeyman level in the installation, alteration and repair of plumbing systems; install, test, maintain and repair natural gas lines, appliances, equipment and accessories and inspect and test cross connection and backflow prevention systems

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Plumber, Class B level Gas Fitter'sLicense recognized by the Province of BC. Valid Certificate of Competency as a CrossConnection Control Specialist issued by the American Water Works Association, British Columbia Section. Two years'recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.

On call is a requirement of this position with a 30 minute response time necessary.
