As a Snow Plow Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating plow trucks to clear snow from residential and commercial properties, ensuring all areas are accessible and well‑maintained during winter conditions. This role also involves shoveling and hand‑clearing walkways and entryways when required. You’ll be expected to perform basic maintenance on trucks and plows, such as greasing, changing fluids, and using basic tools to keep equipment in good working order. Clear communication is essential, as all team coordination happens through group chats and company apps. Above all, you’ll follow all safety procedures, maintain professionalism on every job site, and contribute to a dependable, hardworking team that keeps operations running smoothly throughout the winter season.
To be successful in this role, you must hold a valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and be able to provide a clear criminal background check. You should have prior experience operating pickup trucks equipped with snow plow attachments and be mechanically inclined, capable of performing basic maintenance such as greasing fittings and changing fluids. The position requires someone who can use basic tools, lift up to 50 pounds, and work effectively in challenging winter weather conditions. Reliable personal transportation with winter tires or all‑wheel drive is essential, as is a cell phone with data for communication and the use of in‑house apps. You’ll need to wear CSA‑approved winter‑lined steel‑toed boots, while high‑visibility gear will be provided. Strong communication skills, reliability, and a commitment to safety are key to thriving in this position.
