Position Overview

This position is accountable for performing the various right-of-way activities for the preparation of plats and plans; performing calculations for land acquisition takings easements and remainders; and checking of legal descriptions and related documents for land acquisition and condemnation.

Essential Functions
  • Ensures accuracy and neatness of right-of-way plats and plans.
  • Ensures timely completion of assignments in researching from all sources including courthouse records.
  • Computes areas of land to be acquired.
  • Reviews work of consultants for accuracy and conformity to state policies.
  • Ensures timely completion of all court displays as required for condemnation trials.
  • Compiles existing right-of-way plats based on inquiries from private surveyors and other sources in a timely manner.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology pre-engineering or a job related technical / science curriculum PLUS thirty months of engineering experience; OR Six years of engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in land surveying.
  • Experience in highway and bridge design construction and surveying.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
