Job description
About Megaport

We’re not your typical tech company – and we don’t want to be. Megaport is the global leader in Network as a Service (NaaS), and has transformed the way businesses connect to the cloud, data centers, and each other. We’re publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and partnered with the biggest names in tech like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, IBM, and more. Headquartered in Brisbane with a crew of over 350 people spread across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, our employees enjoy an environment that is collaborative, supportive, and (actually) fun.

Our Team Culture

We’re a team of problem solvers, pixel pushers, code slingers, and cloud fanatics. Culture is more than a poster on the wall here – collaboration beats hierarchy, curiosity fuels our growth, and everyone’s voice matters. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We work across time zones to execute on our global vision, trust each other to get things done, and never compromise our values for commercial gain. Most importantly, we place our customers at the center of everything we do.

The Role

We’re seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join the Edge Services Development team, working on the platform that powers the Megaport Cloud Router and Megaport Virtual Edge products. This is a remote position based in North America, working with our distributed team across Australia and North America. You’ll be instrumental in scaling our global infrastructure and enabling our engineering teams to deliver innovative products to our customers worldwide.

What you’ll be doing
  • Deploy and manage services on our global fleet of Kubernetes clusters, supporting both internal infrastructure and external products
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of complex Kubernetes issues in both our lab and production environments, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Mentor and develop team members by sharing your Kubernetes expertise and elevating the team’s technical capabilities
  • Enhance automation infrastructure by building and improving systems for new node and cluster onboarding
  • Strengthen security posture by continually improving access logging, monitoring, and implementing security best practices
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with our global engineering teams to understand requirements and develop solutions
What we are looking for
  • Deep expertise in Kubernetes, including architecture, networking, storage, and operational best practices
  • Strong proficiency in Terraform and infrastructure as code principles
  • Advanced Linux systems experience, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security hardening
  • Problem solving mindset with the ability to debug complex distributed systems issues
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for mentoring and knowledge sharing
  • 3+ years of experience working with container orchestration platforms in a production environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
What we offer
  • Flexible working environments
  • Birthday Leave
  • Generous study and training allowance + development opportunities + 5 days paid study leave
  • Creative, fun, and contemporary workspaces
  • Motivated team of industry experts and new talent
  • Celebrated success with ‘Legend’ and ‘Kudos’ Awards
  • Health and wellness program
  • Opportunities for career growth and potential for global intra-company mobility
