Location: Maitland, ON (N2O) (I) - N2O primary production

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? Summary: Operates N2O plant including start up and shut down; performs lab tests and some maintenance work. As Quality Control Unit Designee ensures that GMP requirements are adhered to for manufactured and distributed medical gas products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operates plant equipment in accordance with established operating procedures and good manufacturing practices.
  • Performs preventive maintenance in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Repairs equipment throughout the facility.
  • Documents maintenance performed and maintains machinery history files.
  • Monitors instruments during plant operation. Maintains proper logs and records related plant operations.
  • Loads trucks with product for shipping.
  • Replaces chemicals in towers.
  • Analyses and tests product using analytical instruments including gas chromatograph and detector tubes.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement Process.
  • Interacts with internal and external customers; continuously strives to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • As Quality Control Unit Designee the associate is charged with the responsibility and authority to approve or reject all components of N2O production. They are responsible to review production records to assure no errors have occurred. This includes signing and dating daily log reports. The associate in charge of the local QCU must review the Nitrous Oxide Drug Manual on an annual basis. The Quality Control Unit Designee may designate other qualified individuals at the facility to perform certain tasks.

Work Environment

50% in production area (i.e. warm in summer, cool in winter). Hazards required the use of personal protective equipment (i.e. hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes FR clothing). Nitrous Oxide is extremely cold, and therefore requires that gloves be worn when directly handling equipment. 50% office work to provide data entry. On-call and shift work required. Education: High School or equivalent, preferred.
