Job description
Program Summary
  • Opportunity for grade 12 graduates or active students pursuing careers in plant sciences and who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
  • Opportunity to train and become employed in a long term, rewarding career working in J.D. Irving, Limited’s state-of-the-art tree nursery in Juniper, New Brunswick.
  • Qualifying accredited programs at any accredited post-secondary educational institutions in Canada that provide horticulture, plant science, agrology or agriculture degrees.
  • The value of the award includes 50% tuition paid up front (to a maximum of $5,000) with the potential to renew consecutive years. 50% is paid at the start of each term.
  • Offered summer employment for the duration of the scholarship.
  • Must maintain GPA and strong performance during work terms for renewal.
  • Upon graduation, will be offered a secure, full-time role in our New Brunswick operations.
Qualifications
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Applicants can also be a current employee or a dependent (spouse or child) of an employee.
  • Must participate in a behavioral assessment and interview process.
  • Must be willing to live and work summers in Juniper, New Brunswick and, after graduation, relocate to a town in the proximity of Juniper, New Brunswick. Company housing options available.
  • Preference is for those in financial need.
Responsibilities
  • Must provide proof of acceptance or enrollment to full-time or part-time studies in one of the eligible programs.
