Job description

Our story began with a passionate idea that we could change the world. In 1986 it was a simple concept that microbiology teamed with innovation and clinical contribution could eliminate an issue profoundly impacting the healthcare industry – HIV acquired through needle‑stick injuries.

In Australia, we lived out our dream, investing years into R&D to create the safest containment system in the world and taking on industry status quo to petition for higher standards in sharps protection. We witnessed an 80+ percent reduction in disposal‑related needlestick injuries nationwide, and then we kept going.

We are looking to hire a Plant Operator – Team Lead on the afternoon shift for our Daniels’ medical waste treatment facility in our Brampton plant.

A Plant Operator – Team Lead has a widely varying role: checking in containers, double checking paperwork, moving/unloading specific waste containers, and operating a forklift to load an autoclave.

The ideal Plant Operator – Team Lead is an individual who likes variety in their work and can think through practical problems while being responsible for production targets.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved.
  • Receiving and processing the various biomedical waste streams.
  • Scan waste into Route Optics for proper record‑keeping.
  • Maintain the boiler and the autoclave functions to ensure maximum operating efficiency.
  • Ensure that all waste is properly processed and/or stored in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of clean reusable bins and totes for logistics purposes.
  • Wash and ensure quality control of all reusable bins and totes.
  • Ensure housekeeping issues, e.g., spills cleaned up, floor is dry, and debris not on floor, are addressed immediately.
  • Perform additional duties and assist in other areas of the plant operation as directed by Plant Supervisor.
  • Shift: 3:30pm – 1:00am.
Qualifications & Benefits:
  • Forklift certification is a must; candidate must be mechanically inclined, as this position is responsible for troubleshooting any mechanical/technical failures with machine.
  • Job stability – as an essential service to healthcare we are non‑seasonal and recession‑proof.
  • Opportunities for overtime – we always need extra hands on deck, so overtime opportunities are plentiful.
  • Consistent work hours – Monday–Friday position.
  • Benefits – Full‑time roles are provided benefits, RRSP program.
  • Permanent position – This is a full‑time permanent role of 40 hours per week.
  • Competitive salary – This position is offering a competitive hourly rate.
  • Safe work environment – We supply above and beyond the standard PPE protocols for safe handling of medical waste.

$22 – $24 an hour
