Plant Operator/ Heavy Equipment Operator – Meldrum Bay, ON, CA
Pay Type: Hourly

Holcim, a leading building solutions company, will spin off its North American business to focus on construction and infrastructure development in North America.

Job Overview: The Holiday Relief (plant operator/ heavy equipment operator) at the LafargeHolcim – Manitoulin Aggregate site safely performs a combination of tasks ranging from housekeeping activities and preventative maintenance to the operation of fixed and mobile equipment used in the production and shipping of aggregates. The hourly rate starts at $27.92/hr and increases to $28.92/hr after the probationary period.

Responsibilities
  • Comply with all MoL OH&S Acts and Regulations and Lafarge Canada safety rules, policies and procedures.
  • Wear all prescribed Personal Protective Equipment and follow Lockout/Tag out procedures.
  • Report all incidents, near misses and safety hazards to supervisor.
  • Operate various pieces of fixed and mobile equipment to meet production and shipping requirements.
  • Perform pre-operational checks, operate assigned mobile equipment as trained, and complete scheduled maintenance inspections and lubrication of plant equipment.
  • Repair broken or malfunctioning equipment and keep supervisor informed of any problems affecting assigned work.
  • Maintain cleanliness, using a skid steer and/or hand-held tools; work safely around moving and rotating equipment.
  • Be aware of environmentally sensitive areas and correct environmental problems that may develop in the assigned work area.
  • Capacity for varied business needs as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experience in construction, mining or operating heavy machinery is preferred.

  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Prequalification to Employment
  • Police background check required due to the use of explosives on the property.
