Job summary

About this opportunity

Reporting to the Coordinator, PDO, the Plant Operator is responsible for operating a plant area or unit in a safe, effective and productive manner. This role will work with direct peers, panel operators, coordinators, maintenance, engineering, and support services to meet production targets and ensure safety standards are followed.

Work Environment
  • This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 12 hrs/day and 6 hrs on the first and last day; 7 days on 7days off; 42 hrs/week; Wednesday start; 2 week cycle
Foster Creek & Christina Lake
  • Foster Creek and Christina Lake has full-service camp facilities
  • Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations
  • Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton
  • Christina Lake is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB. and Lac La Biche, AB
Sunrise
  • Sunrise is located approximately 100 km northeast of the City of Fort McMurray and is a fly in/ fly out remote camp-based position.
  • Cenovus will provide transportation to Sunrise from designated hubs out of Calgary and Edmonton
  • At the Sunrise site, employees will be provided comfortable camp accommodations and recreational amenities
What you’ll do
  • Provide clarity on team's tasks and activities within the organizational strategy and work within budgetary/financial objectives.
  • Conduct walk-arounds and participate in formal safety audits; LOTO, HSE audits.
  • Perform regulatory compliance checks, reporting requirements and completes and review e-Log entries.
  • Monitor process conditions and initiates troubleshooting activities for all abnormal operational events and takes corrective actions.
  • Oversee a specific work location and support maintenance schedule by preparing equipment for scheduled work.
  • Support commissioning and start-up of new equipment and processes.
Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Minimum 5 years of operating experience.
  • Fourth Class Power Engineering Certificate with progression towards Third Class.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
