Greenwood Ready-Mix operates three certified concrete plants just north of the GTA in Orangeville, Alliston, and Elora. Job Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for general customer service and management of all day-to-day operational functions. The ideal candidate must take time to learn the business and concrete industry, allowing them to perform their duties focusing on a high level of quality and ownership of work as well as being able to effectively communicate with a diverse network of both internal and external customers. The Plant Manager will need to be an effective leader and mentor, willing to support other areas of the business as needed to ensure product meets quality standards and project timelines are kept.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all plant operations to ensure profitability targets, safety and quality standards are met
  • Supervise and manage plant personnel, clearly communicating organizational expectations
  • Oversee all aspects of production scheduling including:
  • Daily reports
  • Delivery scheduling
  • Invoicing, reconciliations, time entry and payroll administration
  • Provide technical leadership to customers to help them understand the advantages of using ready mix concrete products
  • Maintain customer relationships and drive new business development
  • General customer service including answering calls, email communication, etc.
  • Job specification review, quantity takeoffs, tender/bid preparation, negotiation, submittal, and follow up
  • Support plant maintenance activities, including routine upkeep, assisting with basic repairs, and contributing to the safe and reliable operation of equipment
  • Oversee supplier orders ensuring payments, receipts, inventories, and charge outs are tracked and managed
  • Coordinate with various Ready-Mix locations as needed to ensure team support is maintained throughout southwestern Ontario
  • Conduct job site visits and quality inspections as needed to ensure job specifications are met
  • Liaise with fleet department and local service providers for truck breakdown and repair coordination
  • Inventory management and purchasing of special products
  • Prepare shipping documents, purchase requisitions, and daily sales for walk-in customers
  • Additional duties as required
Technical Requirements
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary program or prior relevant experience
  • Previous experience working with concrete or within the construction industry would be considered an asset
  • Technologically inclined and adept at learning new systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Excel, PowerPoint as well as Teams
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to assist with general plant maintenance (including bending, lifting, working outdoors)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills ensuring exceptional customer service both internally and externally
  • Technologically inclined and adept at learning new systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Excel, PowerPoint as well as Teams
Cultural Requirements
  • Self-starter with effective organizational and time management skills, able to work well with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility with work schedules and the ability to work irregular hours when necessary
Pay

$34.75 to $44.75 per hour, plus an annual discretionary bonus
