Job summary

Trillium Rail Partners is seeking a Plant and Logistics Manager to orchestrate heavy plant, inventory, and temporary infrastructure operations for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension project. You will collaborate with construction teams early to optimize logistics, lifting, warehousing, and temporary power as designs evolve toward IFC.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of heavy civil construction logistics experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role on major linear transit infrastructure projects (LRT, subway, or tunneling).
• Proven experience working within Collaborative Delivery Models (Progressive Design-Build, Alliance, or Integrated Project Delivery) is highly preferred.
• Deep technical competency in heavy lifting operations; formal training in lifting supervision, rigging engineering, or crane management is mandatory.
• Demonstrated experience managing temporary electrical distribution grids and high-voltage generator setups for large-scale construction sites.
• Strong background in establishing and auditing multi-site industrial warehouse operations and inventory control software.
• Proficient knowledge of MTO regulations, Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), and OHSA.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with construction team and client during the development phase to influence site layouts, shaft designs, and constructability from a logistics standpoint.
• Provide real-time market data on long-lead plant equipment, temporary power infrastructure, and warehouse space to optimize target pricing and risk registers.
• Develop agile logistics and mobilization plans that can adapt as designs progress from preliminary concepts to IFC packages.
• Manage and provide strategic direction to a Fleet Manager responsible for day-to-day operations, scheduling, and tracking of all project vehicles and equipment.
• Audit lifting plans, mentor lifting Supervisors, and coordinate with field teams and authorities to ensure safe, compliant operations.
• Coordinate with design teams and subcontractors to manage interfaces with utility providers for temporary grid tie-ins and disconnections.
• Establish secure warehouses and laydown yards with RFID/barcode tracking to support JIT deliveries and material protection.

About The Project

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will bring the Eglinton Crosstown LRT another 9.2 kilometers farther west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto into Mississauga. Position Overview

TRP has a current vacancy for a Plant and Logistics Manager who strategically plans, coordinates, and executes all heavy plant, inventory, and temporary infrastructure operations across the project. This role collaborates early with construction teams to ensure that logistics constraints, heavy lifting solutions, warehousing networks, and temporary power infrastructure are optimized during the development phase and seamlessly executed during construction.

Key Responsibilities

Progressive Design-Build (PDB) Integration & Collaboration

• Collaborate with construction team and the client during the development phase to influence site layouts, shaft designs, and constructability from a logistics standpoint.


• Provide real-time market data on long-lead plant equipment, temporary power infrastructure, and warehouse space to optimize target pricing and risk registers.


• Develop agile logistics and mobilization plans that can adapt as designs progress from preliminary concepts to Final Issue for Construction (IFC) packages.

Fleet Management

• Manage and provide strategic direction to a dedicated Fleet Manager responsible for the day-to-day operations, scheduling, and tracking of all project vehicles and equipment.


• Review fleet utilization data, fuel consumption metrics, and telematics reports provided by the Fleet Manager to optimize cost-efficiency and minimize equipment downtime.


• Align fleet operations with subcontractor schedules and the project's overall logistics timeline to ensure vehicles are deployed effectively across the alignment.


• Ensure the Fleet Manager maintains rigorous compliance records, including Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) logs, preventative maintenance schedules, and safety inspections

Heavy Lifting & Rigging Operations

• Act as the ultimate authority for all lifting operations on site; audit, review, and formally sign off on all subcontractor-submitted critical, complex, and tandem lift plans.


• Direct and mentor a team of dedicated Lifting Supervisors who provide field-level oversight and ensure subcontractors strictly execute approved hoisting plans.


• Coordinate with field teams and local authorities to establish proper exclusion zones, road closures, and utility clearances before subcontractors mobilize heavy cranes.


• Conduct spot checks and safety audits on subcontractor rigging gear, crane certifications, and operator qualifications to enforce full compliance with Ontario OHSA and CSA standards.

Warehousing, Laydown, & Material Management

• Establish, secure, and operate a centralized project warehouse and multiple satellite laydown yards to store high-value transit systems, structural steel, and MEP equipment.


• Implement a robust digital inventory tracking system (e.g., RFID or barcode asset tracking) to manage just-in-time (JIT) deliveries and prevent material deterioration.


• Protect critical infrastructure components against theft, weather damage, and transit-phase liabilities before they are installed on the alignment.

Temporary Power Infrastructure

• Oversee the specialized subcontractors responsible for supplying, installing, and maintaining all temporary electrical systems, including high-capacity generators, substations, and distribution grids.


• Direct and task a team of dedicated Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Supervisors who monitor subcontractor performance in the field and ensure installations meet project quality and schedule milestones.


• Coordinate with design teams and subcontractors to manage interfaces with utility providers (e.g., Toronto Hydro, Alectra Utilities) for temporary grid tie-ins and disconnections.


• Ensure all subcontractor-supplied power configurations comply with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) and maintain necessary safety certifications before energization
