About The Role

Provide daily technical mapping, GIS skills and research for the Development Services Department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Technical mapping for Official Plan (OP) and Zoning By-Laws (ZBL) Documents
  • Support amendment work flow
Legacy Planning & Development Mapping
  • Design and conversion of legacy Planning & Development mapping into Planning GIS database
  • Long term maintenance of planning data to accepted GIS Standards
  • 911 road centreline design and maintenance
  • Develop additional planning GIS databases and maintain as systems mature
For Department Planners
  • Prepare site specific maps, orthophoto's, cadastral plans, survey plans and on-demand report graphics
  • Support Land Division, Development Services, Emergency Services and Corporate Services
  • Support Municipalities as required
  • Daily maintenance on plotter, colour printer and wide format copier
  • Annual updating and volume printing of popular mapping products (i.e. Lambton 911 Map)
Statistics And Other
  • Theme Questionnaire Survey compilation and Demographic Statistics
  • Planning research and data compilation
  • Take meeting minutes for various committees' related to GIS Services (i.e. Lambton Mapping Group) and other departmental activities
  • Supervise students as required
  • Act as an advisor and update Corporate Web site content
  • Fabricate reflective Intersection and 911 Civic Address sign blades
Training And Professional Development
  • Keep up to date with activities in neighbouring municipalities and outside agencies
  • Remain current with trends in GIS technology through self directed training and by attending industry conferences
  • Troubleshoot data quality and availability issues
General
  • Incumbents must keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed
  • Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis
