Job summary

Alstom in Toronto, Canada is seeking a Planning Manager to oversee the development and maintenance of project schedules, coordinating with construction, testing, and commissioning teams to ensure timely delivery.

Qualifications

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your project planning and scheduling expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside a collaborative and forward-thinking team of professionals.

You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the scheduling teams and liaising with the construction and testing and commissioning teams for internal and external reporting. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Project Managers, engineering, industrial, sourcing, supply chain, and quality teams), ensure the timely delivery of project schedules, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of developing and maintaining comprehensive project schedules, but also facilitating synchronization and communication among internal and external stakeholders.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Defining and maintaining the Project Time Management Plan based on inputs from all stakeholders and keeping it updated
  • Building and managing project schedules using best practices and internal standard WBS
  • Collaborating with the construction and testing & commissioning teams to ensure project schedule alignment
  • Proposing the project baseline and ensuring its acceptance both internally and externally
  • Performing schedule analysis, identifying potential delays, and proposing solutions
  • Preparing schedule and progress reports for customers, core teams, and partners
  • Coaching and mentoring planning teams to enhance project planning practices
  • Promoting time management practices awareness within the project team
  • Contributing to the return of experience (REX) and sharing best practices

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
  • 7–10 years of experience as a Project Planning Manager, Senior Scheduler, or in a similar role
  • Experience in complex projects, such as design-build, with a project management and industrial background
  • Proficiency in project scheduling processes, including resource-loaded schedules, Schedule of Values (SOV), and Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Hands-on experience with Primavera P6 and MS-Project software
  • Advanced MS Office proficiency, particularly in MS-Excel
  • Knowledge of railway products and systems is desirable
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, with attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive problem-solving approach
  • Experience working in international and multi-cultural environments

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is $110,000 – $145,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
