Job description

Dryden Fibre Canada, which consumes upwards of 1.9 million cubic meters of Fibre annually, is seeking an individual to join our Forestlands Team. The City of Dryden is located on the North shoreline of the Wabigoon Chain of Lakes along the Trans-Canada Highway. It is located midway between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario, and is surrounded by wilderness, lakes, and landscapes.

Reporting to the Forest Management Superintendent and working in conjunction with the team, your role will be to provide forest management planning support on Sustainable Forest Licence areas to ensure a sustainably managed wood supply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the coordination, preparation, and development of Forest Management Plans.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with Indigenous communities, the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), tourist outfitters, trappers, local communities, and other stakeholders within or adjacent to Sustainable Forest Licence (SFL) areas.
  • Contribute to the preparation of annual reports, annual work schedules, and ongoing maintenance of Forest Management Plans.
  • Foster positive working relationships with contracted service providers to ensure quality and efficiency in project delivery.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure information databases and Geographic Information System (GIS) spatial data are accurate, complete, and up to date; provide support to the GIS Specialist in spatial planning activities.
  • Support departmental goals and objectives, aiding in various areas as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in forestry or related programs and current registration as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain RPF status within 12 months.
  • At least 5 years of relevant forestry experience, ideally including direct involvement in the development of Forest Management Plans.
  • Self‑motivated and enterprising, with a proven ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong focus on achieving results and delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Proficient in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), with well‑developed technical and functional skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, complemented by excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainable forestry practices.
