Job description

Reporting directly to the Master Scheduler the Planner/Scheduler is responsible for building daily production schedules, ensuring appropriate levels of inventory to meet Customer needs, and ensure the optimal balance of material flow throughout the plant. The role supports the entire production cycle to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders and deliver customer satisfaction. This individual will execute various programs and work collaboratively with various internal stakeholders, to ensure world-class material flow.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of the Planner-Scheduler are detailed below, but not limited to the following:

SCHEDULING
  • Build daily schedules ensuring on-time delivery internally and externally
  • Review and plan work orders for all new tooling and tooling returned from the die maker on a daily basis
  • Review and promptly respond to daily sales requests relating to order status
  • Collect previous day schedules and sequence orders as required to ensure optimal efficiency and on time deliver (OTD)
  • Analyze and prioritize sales order fulfilment with respect to capacity planning and material requirements
  • Provide back-up support to other planners/schedulers
  • All other duties as assigned
SCHEDULING PLANNING
  • Work with Sales and other departments to review capacity for rush orders and expedite as required
  • Apply all applicable orders to reserves
  • Update the order status report daily, ensuring all notes reflect the current status of the order
  • Review all orders in the backlog, identifying and dispositioning all incomplete orders
  • Print all work orders to be scheduled
  • Independently calculate and determine suitable cut lengths for the production saws to maximize yields on re-cut
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of Almag’s required material levels and product demands to assist in scheduling orders as efficiently as possible
  • Provide back-up support to planners/schedulers
  • Work closely with the master scheduler to optimize flow of material throughout the various department and ALMAG locations.
  • All other duties as assigned
ON TIME DELIVERY (OTD)
  • Support the entire production cycle to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders and deliver customer satisfaction.
  • Work with departments to identify areas of improvement
  • Implement systems and streamline existing procedures/systems for optimal production flow
  • Review and maintain the OTD report ensuring departments are updating lates orders accordingly
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • Minimum College Diploma within a logistics or manufacturing discipline, or combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience planning and scheduling in a warehouse, logistics or production environment
  • Training or certification through APICS would be considered a strong asset
  • Past experience in aluminium extrusion would be considered a strong asset
  • Past experience participating in formal continuous improvement, 5s, lean manufacturing or Kaizan initiatives would be a strong asset
  • Knowledge and experience of EPICS and Scheduling functions within EPICS would be a strong asset.
