Job description

Sedgman is currently seeking a talented Project Planner for our Vancouver BC office location.

The Project Planner is responsible for providing planning services across all project phases, from bid development to execution, including program development through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. This is a critical role for Sedgman that supports project success through proactive schedule management, and performance reporting.

What does this role involve? Key responsibilities:

Develop, maintain, and manage project program and supporting documentation for each aspect of the project including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning;

Identify and incorporate resource requirements into the project program

Carry out analyses of Critical Path activities, and conduct/participate in Schedule Risk Analysis as required, identifying options for corrective action

Review proposal documentation to determine scope of work, battery limits, construction methodologies

Measure, monitor, and manage updates of project progress; advise corrective action as required

Provide timely, accurate and appropriate project reporting including forecasting and S‑Curves

Assess and report on internally and externally driven changes to project scope and potential impact on the project including budget, time, resources etc.

Coordinate and liaise across disciplines, including design activities and progress with the Lead Engineers and Design Manager, procurement activities progress for equipment and contracts with procurement team, construction activities progress for site with construction team, and commissioning activities progress for systems completion and handover with commissioning team

Assist in set‑up of site tracking (E7/construction tracking sheets) including the distribution of budget, hours and development of construction progress tracking metrics/rules of credit

Ensure that internal processes are followed including document management control systems

Participate in team program review sessions; Conduct peer review programs

Participate in internal, subcontractor, and Client meetings as required

Ensure that Sedgman standard structure, codes, activity Id’s, calendars, naming conventions, layouts, linking philosophy, and resources are used

What are we looking for? Qualifications:

Tertiary qualification or equivalent in a related discipline

Must have 5 – 10 years of experience as a project Planner within in the Mining, Construction, and/or Oil & Gas industry

At least 5 years of experience in planning / scheduling complex projects

Minimum of 3 years of practical site‑based experience

High proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, knowledge of ERP systems such as JD Edwards is an asset

Strong analytical and reporting capabilities, including Earned Value Analysis

Able to provide site support as required by the project.

Project planning knowledge essential.

High attention to detail and strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to effectively manage own time, priorities, and activities.

PMI‑SP Certification is highly desirable and considered an asset.

Salary Range : $95,000 - $135,000

The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
