Job summary

Stantec in Canada is seeking a Project Planner to join our team of experts and contribute to project success. The role focuses on developing and maintaining CPM-based schedules for engineering and construction projects, coordinating with clients, PMs, and project teams, and ensuring schedules align with project milestones and master plans.

The position will be based primarily in Chicoutimi, with travel to client locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a construction and/or engineering project environment.
  • Experience contributing to multidisciplinary EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Project Management) teams.
  • A degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering is considered an asset.
  • A diploma or degree in a recognized Project Management program is considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Primavera, MS Project, Microsoft Office, and Adobe applications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and adaptability skills.

Responsibilities

  • Developing schedules for engineering and construction projects using the CPM.
  • Creating and maintaining project schedules tailored to the needs of clients, project managers, and project teams.
  • Prior to project start-up, developing baseline schedules in coordination with the project manager and project team to logically sequence the project scope.
  • Maintaining and updating project schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identifying and quantifying the impacts of completed work, assessing actual progress, and providing regular schedule updates.
  • Incorporating resource and/or cost data into schedules when required.
  • Liaising with clients and project teams to discuss work impacts and resolve issues.
  • Ensuring proper planning is completed before work begins by consulting the appropriate project team members and the client.
  • Collaborating with project managers to develop short-term schedules, monitor progress against these schedules, evaluate impacts on the master schedule, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Providing schedule-related information as needed regarding content, modifications, and presentation.
  • Executing the integrated change control process for project schedules.
  • Supporting project controls specialists and project managers with change management activities related to scope, cost, and schedule control requirements.
  • Staying current with advances in scheduling software and planning tools.
  • Assisting with the monitoring, evaluation, approval, and implementation of change requests.
  • For projects requiring an on-site presence, working closely with clients to support scheduling and coordination requirements.
  • Managing recurring and ad hoc reporting requirements and actively participating in project reporting activities.
  • Performing other planning-related duties as directed by the Project Controls Manager.

As a Project Planner, join our team of experts and contribute to the success of our organization.

This position may be based out of any of our offices in Montréal, Laval, Trois-Rivières, Québec City, or Chicoutimi. However, the primary work location will be Chicoutimi, as regular on-site presence at one of our client locations is required. Employees based in another office will be expected to travel to Chicoutimi as project needs dictate.

Your Responsibilities
