Job description
About CruxOCM

CruxOCM is the leading automation company in heavy industry, specifically targeting the energy sector. We are a venture capital-backed company dedicated to transforming this industry.

Control room operators require the most effective tools to perform their jobs safely and efficiently, while minimizing environmental impact and maximizing revenue. Considering that pilots have autopilot software, it's time for control room operators to have a comparable solution.

About the Role

We are seeking a technically proficient Pipeline Simulation Engineer with oil and gas pipeline modeling and software development experience to join our team. You will be a technical authority on hydraulic behavior and responsible for building, maintaining, and analyzing simulation models that simulate the flow of fluids (oil or gas) through our customers’ pipelines.

You will bridge the gap between theoretical fluid dynamics and real-world operations. You will utilize simulation tools to ensure an accurate digital representation of customer assets, enabling our automation software to ensure flow assurance, optimize power consumption, and maintain the safety and integrity of our customers’ assets.

The Pipeline Simulation Engineer, reporting to the Chief Product Officer (CPO), is a key role blending technical expertise with leadership skills. You will join a team focused on delivering robust solutions to improve pipeline operations within customer control room environments. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams—Product, Engineering, and Deployment—to ensure alignment on customer requirements, the product roadmap, and the overall simulation strategy.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead development of simulation models (including pumps, compressors, control values, elevation, DRA, etc) for the transient simulation of existing pipeline systems that connect to our software
  • Develop steady state and transient hydraulic model enhancements, and provide clear, concise inputs to the development team regarding hydraulic model extensions
  • Perform steady-state and transient hydraulic analysis to ensure accurate digitization of a customer’s environment, and modeling of control components
  • Conduct hydraulic analysis for the development, testing, and validation of automation technologies
  • Collaborate with customers to accurately model fluid and mechanical properties through a range of pipeline operating scenarios
  • Develop equipment controls for simulation models that mimic the field PLC behavior
  • Use offline or online methods to tune transient hydraulic models for supporting control systems
  • Troubleshoot operational anomalies by replicating field events in the simulation environment to identify gaps in our software and ensure robust use case coverage
  • Collaborate with the customers to ensure the quality of the input data to the simulation models is accurate, complete, and robust
  • Continually champion and drive the automation and optimization of the hydraulic simulation modelling process
  • Establish best practices for simulation, optimization, and modeling
  • Read scripts and configuration files to provide technical expertise and guidance, and help the team support and maintain the simulation models
  • Define simulation model scope and estimate delivery timelines
  • Produce comprehensive documentation throughout the simulation model lifecycle
