Job summary

A leading rehabilitation company in Canada is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to assist the physiotherapist in treatment plans for residential care residents. Responsibilities include performing treatment exercises, leading group classes, maintaining a safe environment, and communicating with the supervising therapist about resident care. Candidates should have a PTA/OTA diploma or related degree, First Aid and CPR certification, and experience in long-term care is an asset.

Qualifications

  • PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology or a similar healthcare background.
  • Previous experience in long-term care settings is preferred.
  • Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR is required.
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check within the last six months is necessary.
  • Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance is needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the supervising physiotherapist in treatment plans for residents.
  • Perform treatments prescribed by the physiotherapist.
  • Deliver and set up exercise classes for groups of residents.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy gym and treatment area.
  • Communicate changes in resident status to the physiotherapist.
  • Record daily treatments using a web-based system.

Temporary Full-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to join our growing team!

Wiarton, ON

Status

Temporary Full-Time (37.50)

In this role you will:
  • Assist the supervising physiotherapist in performing various components of the treatment plans for individuals living in residential care communities
  • Perform various treatments as prescribed and directed by the supervising Physiotherapist including but not limited to gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, application of modalities. (i.e. heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS)
  • Deliver dynamic, safe and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents
  • Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after residents' treatments
  • Ensure that the resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy
  • Maintain regular ongoing communication with the physiotherapist regarding any changes or concerns about a resident's status or treatment interventions
  • Record daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' proprietary, web-based system
Qualifications:
  • PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology or a similar healthcare background
  • Previous experience within an LTC setting an asset.
  • Standard First Aid & CPR Certification
  • A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (within 6 months)
  • Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance
