Job summary

A healthcare services provider is seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant in Delhi, Ontario, to work closely with residents in Long Term Care. The role involves assisting with exercises, documenting progress, and monitoring health status. Ideal candidates should be graduates of a Physiotherapy Assistant program, possess excellent communication skills, and have experience in a Long Term Care environment. A police check and a valid driver's license are required. This position offers 26 hours of work per week on a temporary basis.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Physiotherapy Assistant program or equivalent required.
  • Experience in Long Term Care or Retirement home is an asset.
  • Current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
  • Valid 2 STEP TB Test and/or Chest X-ray is required.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with group and one-on-one exercises under supervision.
  • Encourage residents to reach their treatment goals.
  • Document treatments and residents' progress after sessions.
  • Assist residents with mobility and safe transferring.
  • Monitor health status changes and report to the Physiotherapist.
  • Perform treatments such as applying ice packs or ultrasound therapy.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client in Delhi, Ontario. Working under the direct or indirect supervision of the Physiotherapist, our assistants will work in close contact with residents to help them implement treatment programs and achieve the goals set out for them.

Schedule
  • 26 hours per week (Temporary Coverage: May 5th -30th)
Job Duties
  • Assist with conducting group exercises for residents, and/or lead one-on-one exercises with the assigned resident as directed by the Physiotherapist.
  • Encourage residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs if appropriate.
  • Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session per the Physiotherapist’s instructions.
  • Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
  • Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
  • Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack, ultrasound therapy, TENS (electrotherapy), hot wax, etc.
Qualifications
  • Must be a Physiotherapy Assistant graduate or equivalent.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate well with the elderly, supervisors, and teammates.
  • Experience working in a Long Term Care or Retirement home would be a definite asset.
  • Current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
  • Valid 2 STEP TB Test and/or Chest X-ray is required.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license is required.
  • We will NOT consider RELOCATION - Must be a resident of Delhi and/or the Surrounding Area.
