Physiotherapist – Ridge Meadows Hospital – Maple Ridge

Salary: CAD $42.56 – $52.95 per hour.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Casual Physiotherapist to join our team located in Maple Ridge, B.C. Physiotherapists are an integral part of the health care team and provide support to many areas.

Detailed Overview

Provides physiotherapy services in accordance with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC standards of practice, Fraser Health mission, values and physiotherapy acute care standards, and in collaboration with the interprofessional care team to deliver patient and family centered care. Includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, implementation, evaluation, patient consultation, and education to enable optimal health outcomes. Participates in approved physical therapy research, special projects, and program quality and safety activities.

Responsibilities
  • Provides physiotherapy assessment of the patient's physical status, functional abilities, needs, and goals using evidence-based assessment methods, consulting with the health care team, performing examinations, and monitoring the patient's health to improve performance.
  • Analyzes the patient's needs, establishes physiotherapy diagnosis and prognosis, and develops an evidence-based, outcome-focused intervention strategy.
  • Implements interventions in accordance with established treatment guidelines and educates patients and caregivers regarding self-management, health promotion and injury/disability prevention.
  • Participates in the interprofessional care planning process for patients as appropriate.
  • Evaluates and documents the effectiveness of interventions by ongoing assessment and monitoring of patient responses.
  • Participates in maintaining seamless quality patient care by identifying appropriate referrals for physiotherapy services.
  • Collaborates with patients and their families in developing the care plan and encourages family participation.
  • Maintains a variety of records including patient files, documentation, and compiled statistics on workload activities.
  • Delegates components of treatment to rehabilitation assistants by providing direction and instruction.
  • Acts as a physiotherapy resource to other physiotherapists, rehabilitation assistants, and students.
  • Participates in team/program activities required to enhance and optimize delivery of care and to facilitate evidence-based practice.
  • Participates in approved research, special projects and committees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Current full registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC.
Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of physiotherapy theory and practice within a patient and family-centered model of care.
  • Knowledge of the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia standards of practice and practice guidelines.
  • Knowledge of physiotherapy standardized tests, measures, use of equipment and related techniques.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care professions and their role in patient care.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, caregivers, rehabilitation assistants and members of the interprofessional care team.
  • Ability to teach and provide effective consultation to patients, caregivers, rehabilitation assistants and other health care professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Ability to establish workload priorities and adjust to unexpected events.
  • Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including relevant software applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
