About the Opportunity

The Physiotherapist reports to the Rehabilitation Services Manager and assesses, diagnoses and treats patients in a tertiary care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. Physiotherapy assessment involves obtaining a detailed medical history, performing specific and standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical and hydrotherapy techniques to assist the patient in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function.

The Physiotherapist is educated and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers in regard to health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and patient management. This position provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides.

As a member of a clinical team, the Physiotherapist collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participates in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solves problems and shares responsibilities.

About You
  • Bachelor’s degree or entry‑level master program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
  • Membership with The Nova Scotia Regulator of Physiotherapy
  • Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, Outlook)
  • Annual Cardio‑pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • WHMIS training and certification
  • Additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas or practice, e.g. cardio‑respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
  • Permanent, Part‑Time (85%) position; 63.75 Hours Bi‑weekly
  • May be required to work weekends
  • Travel to other sites is required and must have access to a reliable vehicle
Compensation and Benefits

$38.43 - $50.99 Hourly

($52.77 Hourly with 25 years Physiotherapist experience)
