Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Physiotherapist II to provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services across rural sites in Redwater, Radway, and Diamond Springs Lodge Brain Injury Unit. You will supervise students and team members, work independently and with an interdisciplinary team, and lead clinical decision-making for complex cases.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience.
  • Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider from the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Redwater Healthcare Centre is seeking a dedicated Physiotherapist II. You will provide rural generalist physiotherapy services to clients in acute care, continuing care and supportive living. Services are delivered at the Redwater Healthcare Centre, Radway Continuing Care and Diamond Springs Lodge Brain Injury Unit. This position may qualify for a recruitment incentive of up to $13,000 over 12 months.

Description:

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines.You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

New grads are welcome to apply. Preferably one year experience in a rural generalist position. One year experience as a physiotherapist in acute care and/or continuing care. AADL authorizer status for mobility aids is an asset.
