Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is seeking a Physiotherapist to join our inter-professional team. The successful candidate will provide assessments and recommendations across in-patient areas to maximize safety and function for recovery.

Appointments may be at any SHN hospital depending on departmental needs. The role requires current registration with the College of Physiotherapy of Ontario and a valid BLS certification, with experience in multiple co-morbidities and neuro/ortho/cognitive

Qualifications

• Registered and licensed to practice with the College of Physiotherapy of Ontario.
• Valid BLS Certification is required.
• Experience with clients with multiple co-morbidities and neurological, orthopaedic and cognitive impairments is an asset.
• Ability to plan and recommend continued self-care programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work well within an inter-professional team.

Responsabilités

• Provide comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for in-patient clients.
• Make recommendations to maximize safety and function for recovery.
• Participate in program development and evaluation and attend inter-professional meetings.
• Liaise with community-based providers and families when needed.
• Schedule placements across SHN hospitals according to departmental needs.

Job Description

Position Overview

Working as a member of the inter-professional team, the Physiotherapist will provide comprehensive services to patients in a variety of in-patient areas. The Physiotherapist will provide assessments to clients and will provide recommendations designed to maximize safety and function to support individuals recovery. The successful candidate will participate in program development and evaluation as well as actively participating in regular team meetings, liaising with community based providers, advocating on behalf of clients and their families and participation in inter-professional patient and family conferences as needed. The successful candidate may be scheduled at any SHN hospital based on departmental needs.

Requirements

• Registration and licensed to practice (in good standing) with the College of Physiotherapy of Ontario
• Valid BLS Certification
• Previous experience working with clients with multiple co-morbidities, experience with clients with neurological, orthopaedic and cognitive impairments an asset
• Proven ability to plan and recommend continued self-care programs
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well within an inter-professional team
• Ability to exercise initiative and observe strict confidentiality
• Liability insurance confirmed
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
• Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards

Asset

• Member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
• M.Sc (preferred) in Physiotherapy or equivalent
• Familiarity with wheelchair and mobility aid prescription an asset
• Ability to speak another language
