Physician Assistant, Emergency Department (multiple opportunities)

The Physician Assistant (PA) at CHEO works alongside the physician in the Emergency Department to provide care to the patients requiring these services. The PA integrates the skills and knowledge from medicine practice. The PA functions both autonomously and in collaboration with physicians and other health care providers to manage, in a comprehensive manner.

Working closely with the Emergency Interdisciplinary team, the physician assistant will participate in the management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department and will be involved in teaching and medication/treatment management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of a recognized Physician Assistant Program (Essential)
  • Previous experience in related field (Essential)
  • Current appropriate level of life-support training (e.g., BCLS) (Essential)
  • Experience in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (Essential)
  • Ability to function collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and practice in a self-directed manner (Essential)
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership and organizational skills: ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, ability to participate as a member of interdisciplinary team, demonstrates creativity, innovation, flexibility and initiative, sound conflict resolution skills and problem-solving abilities (Essential)
  • Sound crisis management skills (Essential)
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job (Essential)
  • Bilingualism (English and French) (Preferred)
  • Registration as a Physician Assistant in Ontario with CPSO (College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario) (Essential)
