The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a motivated Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant for a casual position in Adult Critical Care.

You will perform history and physical exams, order and interpret investigations, attend rounds, document in EMR, and communicate with the interdisciplinary team. Eligibility and ongoing professional requirements include licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba and WRHA medical staff appointment.

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba as a Physician Assistant or Clinical Assistant.
  • Must be eligible for a Medical Staff Appointment with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
  • Graduates of a Physician Assistant education program acceptable to the College and eligible for national certification.
  • Recent Critical Care PA/ClA experience preferred.

Description

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a motivated Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant for a casual position in Adult Critical Care.

Responsibilities

The Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant will be required to perform, order, and interpret diagnostic, therapeutic investigations/interventions. Duties of this position can/will include performing history and physical exams in a variety of settings that could include the Emergency Department and wards, as well as following patients in the pre/peri/postoperative ward and/or other clinical settings.

Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistants will be required to attend clinical and educational rounds. Administrative requirements will include standard of practice recordings of all patient encounters, these methods may require dictating or utilizing electronic medical records where/when available. Assistants must be able to communicate effectively in English with other members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

THIS IS NOT A MEDICAL ASSISTANT OR MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT POSITION

Salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications and is accompanied by a benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba as a Physician Assistantor Clinical Assistant.
  • Must be eligible for a Medical Staff Appointment with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
  • Must have completed the WRHA Adult Critical Care PA/ClA Training Program or have an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Recent Critical Care experience as a PA/ClA is preferred.
  • Candidates must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant Educational Program acceptable to the College and eligible for national certification.
  • Must be a member of the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA).

Clinical Assistants:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical School in Canada or abroad
  • Must have at least one of the following:
    • Clinical Assistant Assessment
    • NAC OSCE
    • LMCC

This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Registry Checks. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
