Physical and Health Education Teacher Senior School

Full-Time fixed term Contract : 3 Months

Ashbury College is a leading not-for-profit independent day and boarding school for students in Grades 4 to 12 located in Canadas capital and the traditional unceded territory of the Anishinàbe Algonquin Nation. We serve a diverse community of over 60 nationalities from around the National Capital Region the International diplomatic community and international and domestic boarding students.

Based in central Ottawa Ashbury College is currently seeking a full-time fixed term Senior School Physical and Health Education teacher for a period of three months . As the successful candidate you have a history of school and community involvement promoting pluralism and belonging bringing enthusiasm and energy to the classroom working collaboratively with colleagues and leading co-curricular activities. Your teaching practice includes current learning theories creative use of technology and imaginative course design and delivery.

Your education experience and qualifications include :

  • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
  • A degree in Physical Education Kinesiology Human Kinetics or a related field with a strong foundation in movement science and physical performance.
  • Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR ensuring preparedness for emergencies.
  • Evidence of teaching that has been enhanced by technology.
  • Ability to serve as a Teacher Advisor for a small group of Senior School students as part of Ashburys TAG program
  • A demonstrated commitment to enriching whole school life for students including promoting pluralism and enhancing student belonging
  • Lead by example demonstrating professionalism integrity and a commitment to excellence.
  • French language fluency is an asset as is international experience and fluency in other languages

Specific responsibilities include :

  • Teach full time (4 classes)
  • Support an athletic team as a coach or assistant coach fostering skill development and team spirit
  • Lead a Teacher Advisory Group
  • Provide on-call teaching as required
  • Actively participate in Department meetings faculty teaching and learning opportunities and whole school activities.
