Job description

We currently have a temporary full-time position for a Pharmacy Technician in the Ambulatory Patient Pharmacy (Outpatient Pharmacy).

Key responsibilities of a Pharmacy Technician include but are not limited to:

  • Performing functions while meeting standards of accuracy and speed;
  • Filling prescriptions using automation and workflow management software (Kroll & Innovations Smart Cabinet);
  • Compounding mixtures and other necessary medications;
  • Checking prescriptions as needed;
  • Completing necessary mathematical calculations;
  • Ensuring accuracy in cash register transactions;
  • Preparing daily cash reconciliation;
  • Preparing orders for delivery;
  • Inventory management; and
  • Ordering and receiving medications and supplies.

Must be available to work a Saturday shift as per the Pharmacy Technician rotation.

Qualifications/Skills
  • Qualified to be regulated by the Ontario College of Pharmacists leading to licensure as a Regulated Pharmacy Technician within 18 months of graduation
  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician Intern after graduation
  • Detail‑oriented and excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Self‑motivated to succeed and able to take initiative
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Previous customer service skills strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of retail pharmacy computer system strongly preferred (Kroll Pharmacy Software)
  • Basic use of word processing and spreadsheets an asset
  • Knowledge of third party billing preferred
