Job summary

Lakeridge Health Oshawa & Whitby is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for a temporary part-time role. You will support the Pharmacy team in safe drug distribution across days, evenings and weekends, reporting to the Pharmacy Manager.

The position offers a competitive hourly wage ($34.040 - $39.240) and requires RPHT registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists along with CCAPP certification. Emphasis on accuracy, teamwork, safety, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• OCP RPHT registration with Ontario College of Pharmacists.
• CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program.
• Knowledge of inpatient dispensing and unit dose processes.
• Experience with pharmacy automation preferred.

This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 15 October 2026 and closing at 11:59 pm on 22 October 2026.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Manager, Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician will be an integral member of the Pharmacy team and will be accountable for the technical aspects of drug distribution. The Pharmacy Technician will work to ensure patient safety and for the accuracy, quality, integrity and timeliness of pharmaceutical product and release.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPHT);


• Graduate of a CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program and within 6 months of registering with OCP;


• Knowledge of inpatient pharmacy dispensing processes- traditional and unit dose;


• Knowledge of pharmacy automation including experience with unit dose packaging and automated dispensing cabinets preferred;


• Demonstrated accuracy, organizational skills, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills;


• Proven effective verbal and written communication;


• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment;


• Computer skills related to Microsoft Office including Word and Excel are preferred;

• Must have satisfactory performance record; and


• Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
