Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Mental Health team at HMP Highpoint, a category C Prison located in Stradishall, Suffolk. Highpoint is a male prison with a capacity of 1,370. You will be based within the healthcare department but will also go out to the wings to administer medication. The pharmacy team consists of a team of 5. Highpoint Prison offers:

  • Free parking
  • Free use of an on-site large gym
  • Career Development / Training opportunities
Hours
  • This role is a permanent 37.5 hours per week over 4 days per week
  • Monday - Friday
  • 7:45am - 6:15pm
Salary

This position is full time; you’ll receive an annual salary up to £28,247 - £32,346 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide outstanding quality based patient-centred care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Focus on providing a safe and secure medicines management service, ensuring patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care within the scope of professional standards, including timely administration of medicines and analysing cost-effective prescribing as defined through our health in justice medicines policy.
  • Work as a key member of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to make a real difference.

Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3, or above, BTEC or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Up to date with Continual Professional Development (CPD)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
