Job Purpose

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager and working collaboratively with pharmacists, technicians, and assistants, the primary focus of the Pharmacy Clerk is to maintain prescription pick up and drop off areas to provide prompt and accurate processing of the customer / patient’s order. Provide clerical support to other pharmacy staff to ensure timely and courteous customer / patient service.

Principal Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Maintain a neat and organized customer service and pharmacy checkout area
• Accurately scan or enter product data
• Accurately account for cash, coupon and credit receipts, lottery and Be Well
• Ask for customer’s Be Well card during each transaction
• Answer inquiries regarding location of product, rain checks, refunds, promotions and Be Well
• Answer phone calls to provide information to customers and direct to the appropriate staff member if applicable

Merchandising

• Complete merchandising tasks as directed; maintain efficient flow of merchandise from stock room to assigned selling area
• Merchandise and maintain designated areas (e.g., shelf allocations, face up, signing, tagging, etc.)
• Maintain standards of housekeeping
• Advise appropriate person about stock outs/shortages
• Perform stock counts and order for designated areas
• Attend training courses as deemed necessary or beneficial

Loss Prevention

• Ensure loss prevention systems and procedures are performed according to guidelines
• Control cash, lottery, and stamp inventory in accordance with prescribed cash handling policies and procedures
• Maintain proper security of cash and merchandise
• Comply with all health and safety regulations

General

• Ensure the standards of housekeeping and image are maintained
• Present proper image to the public (appearance, uniform, name badge)
• Perform other duties as assigned to support Rexall Pharmacy Group Ltd.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Post-secondary education required
• Familiarity with computer and register skills
• Well organized, detail-oriented and ability to record keep
• Good communication skills both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently but also function as part of a team

Context and Environment

Must be able to perform in a fast paced and changing environment that requires a balance of teamwork and meeting store and customer expectations. Focus is on customer needs and procedural compliance. Providing assistance to the Pharmacy team to ensure that the needs or issues of the customers are met and resolved in a timely and professional manner. Must be able to work flexible shifts which may include nights and weekends. This job requires a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. Customer satisfaction must be high ensuring that customer order processes are efficient and meeting company standards. Ability to lift 50lbs and act as the frontline company representative to ensure the vision created by management is carried out in relation to the specific job.
