Job summary

MediSystem Pharmacy, a division of Shoppers Drug Mart, is hiring a Pharmacy Assistant to support automation, inventory, shipping, and prescription filling processes. This full-time permanent role offers growth in a fast-paced retail pharmacy environment and opportunities across departments.

You will work with Kroll software, package orders for nursing homes, and help ensure accurate, timely delivery while maintaining high quality and patient service standards.

Qualifications

• No experience required in Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Generate automation reports and package medications using the automation machine.

Pharmacy Assistant

Full Time Permanent

MediSystem is a division of Shoppers Drug Mart and is a specialized pharmacy servicing seniors in long term care and retirement homes throughout Canada. MediSystem is part of the Shoppers Drug Mart network of over 1,400 stores.

What You’ll Do:

Automation

• Generate automation reports via Kroll pharmacy management software
• Package medications into unit dose pouches using the automation machine
• Perform machine maintenance and troubleshooting
• Manage automation workflow to meet workflow targets and schedules

Inventory

• Maintain inventory at pharmacy to pre-specified minimum stock levels
• Place orders for and maintain stock levels of pharmacy supplies or specialty items when needed
• Perform inventory pre-count preparation and assist inventory count vendors
• Action drug recalls and help obtain alternatives when products are unavailable

Shipping

• Follow a step-by-step workflow process to prepare packages for shipment
• Working with a team, you will use an automated process to package orders for nursing homes and have them ready for delivery
• Investigate and troubleshoot orders to have them shipped on time

Prescription Filling

• Follow a step-by-step workflow process to prepare medication orders for patients
• Label medication and over the counter products, prepare medication blister packs, and mixtures
• Use Kroll software in preparing and labeling prescriptions

What you’ll need:

• No experience required in Pharmacy
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn

• To be adaptable, you may work in different departments to support workflow

To help you stand out, any or all of the following are considered an asset:

• High school diploma
• Kroll software experience
• Pharmacy experience, Long Term Care setting experience preferred

This role requires employees to stand for extended periods of time and be flexible to work a variety of shifts during the business hours of operations, which includes occasional weekend shifts and statutory holidays.
