A healthcare organization in McLennan is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to manage medication inventory and assist pharmacists. Applicants should have completed Grade 12 and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Familiarity with pharmacy operations is preferred. The position offers a salary range of $22.55 to $25.90 per hour, with flexible shift patterns.
As a member of the Sacred Heart Health Center, located in McLennan, the Pharmacy Assistant will work with Pharmacy Technicians & Pharmacists to their full scope of practice. Under limited supervision of the Operations Manager, and the direct supervision of a pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician. This position can possibly cover casually in surrounding sites if interested. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be responsible for the packaging, distributing, shipping medications and the management and replenishment of medication inventory levels under the general supervision of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of purchasing, receiving, and inventory control of pharmaceuticals to minimize outdated medications. Must be fluent in the English language (written and verbal). Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Good organizational, problem solving and decision-making ability. Must display tact, courtesy, discretion, and respect confidentiality. Must be accurate, reliable, precise, co-operative, able to demonstrate effective service attitude, and self-motivated. Must be able to work both independently and co-operatively in a team environment. Must be able to adapt to recent technologies and changing workflow patterns. Familiarity with the operation of various office equipment, unit dose packaging equipment and pharmaceutical compounding equipment. Must be in good physical condition as most shifts involve heavy lifting, standing, crouching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.
Recent hospital pharmacy related experience and a working knowledge of Pharmacy terms and medication names. Graduate of a recognized pharmacy assistant program and/or recent hospital/retail pharmacy experience. 1+ year experience in hospital pharmacy supporting rural sites. Knowledge of EPIC (Pharmacy Module) computer software.
