Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto seeks a Pharmacist, Drug Information to translate complex drug data into clear guidance for formulary and hospital policy decisions. You will advise clinicians and care teams, co-lead committees, and contribute to research pharmacy activities, with involvement in a digital renewal of the electronic health record.
You will lead drug information efforts, support committee processes, and help ensure safe, evidence-based medication use across acute care.
Turn complex drug evidence into clear guidance that shapes formulary and policy decisions across the hospital. As a Pharmacist, Drug Information at Mount Sinai Hospital, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clinicians and care teams, providing expert drug information that supports safe, evidence-based medication decisions. The role offers project leadership experience through a hospital initiative on hazardous drug handling undertaken with other hospitals. Your support for Research Pharmacy adds another dimension, giving you a working understanding of how pharmacy helps execute clinical research. You will also co‑lead the Pharmaceuticals and Therapeutics Committee through the electronic health record renewal, gaining experience in how formulary decisions are carried into a new digital system. Together, these experiences broaden your practice while keeping drug information at the core.
Are you a strong communicator in both conversation and writing? Excellent oral and written skills allow you to tailor complex drug information to the needs of each audience. Whether answering a drug information question or preparing formulary materials for committee review, you distill the evidence into concise and practical recommendations. When collaborating with health professionals on medication use policies and procedures, active listening allows you to understand each discipline’s needs before reflecting them in clear and usable policy. In this role, your ability to communicate clearly and effectively helps translate evidence into safe, consistent patient care.
The ability to think at both the patient care and systems levels ensures policy and committee decisions align with corporate and provincial goals. Every recommendation you contribute considers the patient in front of the care team alongside the priorities of the organization. Whether helping identify alternative treatments during a drug shortage or assisting with protocols that restrict use of the affected drug, you keep both the individual patient and hospital‑wide supply in view. This perspective helps connect your daily work to the goals of the wider provincial health system.
Organization and attention to detail stand out among your strengths, allowing you to manage multiple requests without losing precision. You demonstrate sound judgment in prioritizing requests and ensuring timely, thorough follow‑through. These strengths are particularly valuable in supporting Special Access Program requests, where careful coordination, documentation, and responsiveness are essential for both initial and repeat requests. When assisting Information Services pharmacists with medication content, your attention to detail helps ensure each entry is clear and safe for order entry and the electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR). The result is accurate information patients and care teams can depend on at every stage of care.
