Job description

Summary

Manage the operations of the Pharmacy while on duty, including providing consultation to customers and healthcare providers, dispensing medication, and assisting in the maintenance of the dispensary.

Responsibilities
  • Provide counseling on prescriptions, over‑the‑counter and behind‑the‑counter products.
  • Practice to the full extent of the expanded scope of professional services within your capability.
  • Be clearly identifiable to the public.
  • Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed.
  • Communicate with other healthcare professionals to provide integrated customer care.
  • Maintain all records in accordance with legislation, standards of practice, and policy.
  • Control access to the dispensary with respect to inventory and patient confidentiality.
  • Review workflow queues daily and oversee will‑call bins per standard operating procedures.
  • Identify and remove expired inventory; maintain accurate stock levels and place medication orders from the wholesaler.
  • Ensure documentation and control of controlled substances meet regulatory requirements and report to Health Canada and other bodies.
  • Ensure entry/pickup workstations, counselling/waiting areas, and work islands present an appropriate image of the Pharmacy.
  • Assist with financial reports as required.
  • Read and act on store communications on the in‑store web system.
  • File incident reports when any customer or staff medication or privacy incidents occur.
  • Plan, coordinate, delegate assignments, and coach Pharmacy colleagues.
  • Lead by example, drive and build the business, and support enterprise programs.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Develop and execute problem‑solving action plans.
  • Utilize personal computing skills and knowledge of Pharmacy systems.
  • Follow all health & safety procedures to maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Complete mandatory training and voluntary continuing education workshops as needed.
