Overview
The Personal Training Manager ensures that the club delivers a high quality fitness experience to all members.
Scope & Span of Control
Job Scope: 1 club
This position directly manages Personal Trainers within the club.
Key Responsibilities
Staffing and Development [40% of time]
- Hire, develop and manage performance of qualified Personal Trainers.
- Train & develop other staff regarding fitness and supplementation presentations.
- Conduct weekly meetings with direct reports to review performance and offer direction.
- Manage the Personal Trainer schedule and maintain budgeted non‑session hours.
- Mediates club employee relations matters for all club fitness employees.
- Discipline staff under guidance of supervisor.
Fitness Management [40% of time]
- Ensure that all Personal Trainers are delivering high quality programs to clients.
- Develop weekly work schedules for fitness staff and ensure proper Time & Labor recording.
- Provide member service and support related to fitness servicing issues.
- Ensure accurate administration of Personal Training including dotFIT, measurement tracking, workout programs.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and yearly revenue objectives for personal training services and supplements.
Sales and Service [20% of time]
Participate and provide direct execution support in the fitness area.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of Crunch Certified Personal Training Program and related software.
- Knowledge of Personal Training technique and program design.
- Ability to adjust and operate all club equipment.
- Experience in coaching/motivating groups.
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
- Positive, enthusiastic, member‑service focused attitude.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Current CPR certification.
Certifications
- ACSM – Certified Personal Trainer
- ACE – Personal Trainer Certification
- Cooper Institute – Personal Trainer Certification
- IFPA – Personal Fitness Trainer Certification
- NASM – Certified Personal Trainer, Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES)
- NESTA – Personal Fitness Trainer Certification
- NFPT – Personal Trainer Certification
- NSCA – Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
Experience
- 1‑2 years as a Personal Trainer/Crunch Coach preferred.
- Preferred: Prior management experience leading 3‑10 employees in retail/hospitality.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in club office; move about club floors and rooms; review, revise, create club paperwork.
- Regularly demonstrate or explain proper physical fitness activities; lift up to 50 pounds.
