Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Personal Support Worker for a temporary part-time position at Aspira Kensington Place in North York, Ontario. The role supports residents with daily living activities, care needs and comfort, under supervision, in a welcoming retirement setting.

You will work to enhance residents’ dignity, independence and quality of life, while adhering to care plans and facility policies. A PSW program is required, with compassionate teamwork valued.

Qualifications

• Completed Personal Support Worker program from an approved college or private institution.
• Detail-oriented and proficient in bedside care duties.
• Tact and diplomacy when working with seniors, families and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Provide Resident Supervision and Assistance: assist residents with daily living activities per care plans (eating, dressing, hygiene, grooming).
• Provide Resident Care and Services: administer specific medications under supervision with training; ensure access to mobility/assistive devices.
• Support Resident Comfort & Well-being: provide ongoing cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual support; encourage participation in Resident Experience Team programs.

Provide Resident Supervision and Assistance

• support residents with their activities of daily living including eating, dressing, hygiene and grooming as per residents’ individual plans of care

Provide Resident Care and Services

• aid residents with respect to their communication and connections by encouraging them to wear individual sensory aids such as glasses, hearing aides, etc.
• With additional prescribed training, administer specific medication to residents under the supervision of a registered health professional
• Ensure residents have constant and easy access to mobility or assistive devices such as canes, walkers, call bells, etc.

Support Resident Comfort & Well-being

• provide ongoing cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual support; as well as oral and dental care
• encourage residents to participate in programs offered by the Resident Experience Team, whether individual or in groups

Who You Are

• You are compassionate and dedicated to meaningful work that supports seniors in living life fully
• You have completed a Personal Support Worker program from an approved college or private institution.
• You are detailed-oriented and proficient in procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatment and can provide bedside care to residents
• You exercise tact and diplomacy in working with seniors, their families and general visitors
