Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Markham, Ontario, is seeking a Personal Support Worker (PSW) for a temporary full-time assignment lasting two months. The role focuses on compassionate, resident-centered care, assisting clients with daily activities, hygiene, and mobility while adhering to government standards and Yee Hong's values.

The ideal candidate will have Ontario PSW training, CPR, and good communication skills; experience in long-term care and Chinese language ability are assets.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent.
• Experience in long term care setting an asset.
• Current CPR Certificate.
• Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.
• Resident-centered care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage.
• Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player.
• Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office).
• Basic knowledge of Workday an asset.
• Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset.

In addition, Yee Hong offers four campuses of managed care, a hospice residence, and a wide range of community-based senior and caregiver support services. The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene. The PSW will support the clients' physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization's resident-centered approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents' rights and the organizations mission and philosophy.

Qualifications

• Behavioural management training (Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), U-First, CPI) an asset
• Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office)
• Basic knowledge of Workday an asset
• Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset

Working Conditions

• Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending
• Exposure to all resident care elements through regular resident contact
• Ability to work night shifts, including weekends and short shifts
• May be required to work an alternate shift(s) to meet operational needs (e.g., emergency, training, accommodation, etc.) as per scheduling practices

This is a temporary full-time position for 2 months.

Salary Range: $25.41 - $27.62
