Job summary

AgeCare in Oshawa, ON is seeking a Personal Support Worker (PSW) on a part-time, temporary basis to provide resident care per care plans and maintain a safe environment. The PSW will monitor care, document information, attend trainings, and assist in onboarding new staff.

Applicants should have a PSW certificate, meet provincial standards, be knowledgeable about sanitation and geriatric needs, and adhere to IPAC guidelines. Salary ranges from CAD 27.46 to 29.49 per hour.

• Graduate of Personal Support Worker Certificate/Diploma Program.
• Meets vocational standards by Ontario authorities.
• Knowledge of basic sanitation and geriatric needs.

The Opportunity

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is responsible for providing care to residents according to their care plans and assisting in the identification of resident needs. The PSW assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and other staff members.

What You Will Do

• Assists in the monitoring of care given to residents ensuring it is in accordance with the established plan of care by observing residents and reporting findings to immediate supervisor.
• Assists in the documentation of information pertaining to the care of residents as directed.
• Attends in-service education sessions, staff meetings, and workshops as directed.
• Assists in the onboarding of new staff as directed.
• Must follow IPAC (Infection Prevention and Control) policies and procedures.

What You Bring

• Graduate of Personal Support Worker Certificate/Diploma Program.
• Meet the vocational standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities.
• Meet the standards established by the National Association of Career Colleges.
• Meet the standards established by the Ontario Community Support Association.
• Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatments and related bedside care to residents.
• Must understand the basics of good sanitation and cleaning techniques and be knowledgeable with respect to the needs of geriatric residents.
